The Adil Shah Sultans ruled Bijapur for more than 200 years and were great builders. Ibrahim Rauza (tomb) is the mausoleum of Ibrahim Adil Shah II and was built in the 16th century. Designed by a Persian architect the monument attracts the visitor with its grandeur and beautiful design. The locals call it the black Tajmahal and it is believed that Shahjahan got the inspiration to build Taj after seeing Ibrahim Rauza. Intricate calligraphy & inscriptions adorn the walls of the tomb. On the right side of the tomb is a rectangular Mosque which is equally majestic !!!
