The Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary lies in the Malappuram District of the state of Kerala in India. It spreads over a cluster of islands where the Kadalundipuzha River flows into the Arabian Sea. The Sanctuary hill is around 200 m above sea level. It is 29 km from Tirur Town centre and 19 km from Kozhikode city centre. The nearest airport is Karipur International Airport, Malappuram. Kadalundi wildlife is home for native as well as migratory birds. It has innumerable birds like woodpecker, jungle fowl, and black bulbul, laughing thrush, kingfisher, peafowl and myna. Tourist can migratory birds like sandpipers, terns, seagulls, turnstones, green and red shanks as well as sandplovers. The major famous species of birds here are cormorants, darters, Malabar hornbills and brahminy kites. A hillock nearby, which is 200 m above sea level, offers a splendid view of the river mouth and the sea. Kadalundi is also known for a wide variety of fish, mussels and crabs. The mangrove vegetation here shelters otters and jackels.
