Khardung La (Khardung Pass, la means pass in Tibetan) is a mountain pass in the Ladakh region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Arguably the world’s highest motorable road, this pass is one of the most-popular attractions of Ladakh.The pass offers magnificent views of the vicinity and is positioned at a distance of around 40 km from the Leh.There is an army canteen also that serves refreshments and tea. Khardungla Pass also has a historical significance as it is associated with the fact that this lies on the Caravan Route that connects Leh to Kashgar in Central Asia. Earlier, camels and horses were used to cover the distances and supply valuable and goods.
