It is a city square in Anantnag,in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The name was given by the left wing activists, inspired by the Russian Revolution, as they fought against Maharaja Hari Singh. It is the place where Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled the National Flag in 1948. It was here that he gave Kashmiris a referendum to choose their political future. It was the traditional place for the political meetings. It is named behind the Red Square of Moscow by a Sikh leftist intellectual BPL Bedi. Lal Chowk is also a famous shopping attraction in Anantnag.
