A 7 km ride off NH 52 towards the east at Lathao village and about 12 kms. from the resort is the Lathao International Bana Meditation Centre which is under development since a few years. The centre spread over a hill called 'Lal Pahar' in local parlance is a centre for vipassana meditation, one of India's most ancient meditation techniques. The main attraction though is the 113 feet high Buddha statue being constructed with maximum work on it having completed. Once complete, the statue will be the highest of its kind in India.
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation and practised here.
The centre, surrounded by lush forest and sitting atop the Lal Pahad (red hill) provides an atmosphere of solitude ideal for meditation. It can also lay claim to one of the tallest statues of Buddha in the area. Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind.
