The Mehrauli Archaeological Park is a beautiful place to visit in South Delhi and is spread over a staggering area of 200 acres. The park contains over a hundred monuments of historic and cultural importance which will transport you to a different era and offer plenty of photo-ops.
The Mehrauli Archaeological Park covers 100 acres of green land abutting a World Heritage Site—the Qutb Minar. It is bound by the Chattarpur Road to the east and Qutb Complex in the north. This area is dotted with remains from every era of Delhi's history—from the pre-Islamic to the late Mughal and the colonial period.
The cultural importance of the place can be best understood by the fact that this is the only place in the entire capital which has been under continuous occupation for the last 1000 years! Some of the most notable monuments include the Lal Kot Fort, Balban’s Tomb, Rajon ki Baoli and Gandhak ki Baoli to name a few.
