Satsar Lake is located near to kishansar Lake, Sonamarg,Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir. It is a cluster of seven interconnected alpine lakes and is set in a cascade-like formation. Perched at an elevation of 3600 metres above the sea level, this lake has an expanse of 4 km. This beautiful water body is visited by hordes of tourists throughout the year. The picture sque landscape surrounding this lake is made of lush green meadows and alpine flowers like potentilla, gentian and blue poppy. During the spring season, rare flowers of Hedysarum are found in abundance along the lakeside. It is home to brown trout fish and only licensed anglers with prior permission are allowed to fish here. Apart from nature enthusiasts, the place is thronged by adventure seekers as trekking can be enjoyed in the region. Among several trek routes to the lake, travellers prefer the one that commences at Naranag. Satsar Lake is accessible only during summers as in the winter season treks leading to this place experience heavy snowfall. In order to cover maximum lakes in the region, people choose to return via Sonamarg, Vishansar Lake and Gadsar Lake.
