The museum displays the Kerala history through the original-size images of all great heroes of the state. The history of Kerala is narrated through these statues from the Neolithic age to the modern age. Light and sound exhibitions are one of the major attractions at Museum of Kerala History. These are organized regularly and commentaries are given in both English and Malayalam, aiming to satisfy both foreign and local tourists. The gallery for paintings and sculptures is another major attraction. It exhibits over 200 original works by acclaimed Indian artists of the contemporary period. The Centre for Visual Arts displays a wide and rare collection of the authentic reproduction of some global masters. It also displays Indian art’s original mural reproductions that are larger than life.
The museum was founded by philanthropist and entrepreneur R. Madhavan Nayar (1914-1996) in 1986. It is managed by the Madhavan Nayar Foundation, a registered charitable trust.
