Tirupparaṅkuṉṟam is a suburb in Madurai district in Tamil Nadu, India. The area is part of Madurai Municipal Corporation and the first local body election for the corporation was held on 18 October 2011. Tirupparaṅkuṉṟam is known for its ancient temple of Murugan and is the first among the Six Abodes of Murugan. It is one of the most visited tourist places in Madurai, next only to the Meenakshi Amman Temple. The Tirupparankunram Dargah is located atop the Tirupparankunram Hill. As of 2011, the town had a population of 48,810. There is a bus stand with bus services connecting Thirupparangkundram with other parts of Madurai and adjacent villages. Passenger trains running between Madurai and Tirunelveli stop at Thirupparankundram. Thirupparankundram railway station is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from Madurai Junction. The nearest airport is Madurai Airport which is 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Thirupparangundram.
