Chennai is home to many beaches and Thiruvanmiyur Beach in its suburbs is becoming a popular spot for youngsters and tourists who want to enjoy some fresh sea breeze. Thiruvanmiyur is in South Chennai, very close to the IT corridor. The one-kilometer stretch of Thiruvanmiyur Beach extends along the scenic East Coast Road (ECR) leading to Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) and Puducherry (Pondicherry). If the crowds at Marina Beach and Elliot’s Beach in Chennai seem overwhelming, then Thiruvanmiyur Beach will appeal to you. This serene stretch is not as commercialized or crowded as the other two beaches. And, what makes it even more appealing is that this beach is very clean too. It is also called as Breezy Beach.Thiruvanmiyur Beach is a popular attraction and the beach line is 1 km from East Coast Road. The Beach Walkers promenade is very popular with the local residents. Recently, the corporation has announced a scheme for beautification of the beach and invited public opinion on this subject. The area is easily accessible by Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses and has a sprawling bus terminus. Thiruvanmiyur Railway station, opposite to Tidel Park, is on the Mass Rapid Transit System Railway line which connects Velachery and Beach via Chennai Central (Park Station). STPI, also known as Software Technology Parks of India, located near Tidel Park, is another hub for Information Technology companies. The East Coast Road starting in Thiruvanmiyur leads to Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry. In the quiet neighborhood of Valmiki Nagar, the isolated and less frequented Breezy Beach is a welcome relief. Less populated with clean golden sands and clean sea waters is perfect to enjoy water sports or just a dip. It is popular for beautiful Sunrises and boat rides. Area wise the beach is much smaller but it works in its favor as it is quiet and peaceful. On the golden sands and clean sea waters you can enjoy many water sports as well.
