Uttara guruvayurappan temple, East Delhi

    ABOUT

Such is the charm of this pristine temple in East Delhi where Lord Vishnu showers his blessings on devotees coming from far corners, Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple. Settled in Mayur Vihar, if you are on the lookout for a blissful time singing the chants of Sree Guruvayurappan (Lord Vishnu) and attaining divine relief, there is no place perfect than this temple.

    HISTORY

Drifting back to 1975, as that's the year when the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) sanctioned a piece of land in Janakpuri for the construction of this temple. Call it fate, but the land that was allotted to the group of worshippers had some issues related to astrology. And hence, the location where this tourist spot stands now was chosen as the right place to lay the foundation. Besides, legend has it that the change of location was done by the Lord himself as if he wanted the temple to be built at this location where the pious Yamuna River flows. Another interesting fact about this temple is that the idol resting here faces the West as compared to the traditional temple science of idol facing towards the East.
