The temple is famous for the Bhutha Dance (pootham) performed in connection with the annual festivals in May/June & December/January. The interesting fact of the temple is that the Brahmin priest performs puja only in the noon, the morning and evening pujas are performed by a division called Maniyanis (Yadavas). Several sub-deities like Bhagavathy, Bhairavi and Kshetrapalan are there in this highly revered shrine. Another speciality of this temple is that the priest performs pooja in the shrine only at noon. The temple celebrates festivals twice a year. The annual festivals of the temple are celebrated during May/June and December/January. Kanhangad railway station is only 2 kilometers from this temple.
