We are a community of believers in Jesus Christ attempting to live our faith in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church and with the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul. In accord with this belief, our parish mission statement reads: "We serve, share and personify Christ to all people, evangelizing the poor in the Spirit of St. Vincent de Paul." Concern for the poor is never far from our minds. Our parish is in the city of Cape Girardeau located in southeast Missouri along the Mississippi River. We are a parish of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau with the Most Reverend Edward M. Rice serving as our bishop. The diocese is listed as a "mission diocese" due to its large size, small percentage of Catholics and relatively new establishment as a diocese. The diocese celebrated its 60th anniversary in the year 2016. We have approximately 1500 families in the parish community and this number lists us as one of the larger parishes in the diocese. Our larger size presents us with many advantages and challenges as well. An obvious great advantage is that with a larger number of parishioners we have additional resources to share, such as time, talent and treasure. At the very same time with a larger number of parishioners comes the challenge of creating community. We are embracing this challenge in our liturgical celebrations, outreach ministries, educational systems and parish activities. We invite you to consider joining us as "we serve, share and personify Christ to all people, evangelizing the poor in the Spirit of St. Vincent de Paul."
