Thaliyil Mahadeva Temple is an important place of worship for centuries located at Thazhathangadi in the Kottayam district of Kerala. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, there is a fort surrounding the temple named as Thalikotta. In the local language, kotta means fort and that is how the temple got its name. Situated near Uppoottikavala at the Kottayam-Kumarakom route, many tourists to Kumarakom, the well known backwater destination in Kerala, visit this temple. The round-shaped shrine is facing westwards and it has a large idol of Mahadeva. The sub-deities of this temple are Lord Ganesha, Lord Subramanya, Lord Sastha, Nagaraja and Rakshas. The 10-days annual festival of the temple is celebrated in the month of Medam, the Malayalam month
