ABOUT
Priyadarsini Planetarium is one of the best planateriums in the country. it is a very popular tourist attraction. This state-of-the-art planetarium is one of the best in India with its centrally air conditioned sky theater, conference hall, sound studio, workshops and more. Priyadarshini Planetarium is rated as one of the top planetariums as it meets international standards. The planetarium can seat 184 people.
HISTORY
Opened in 1994 to the public, this is one of the most versatile planetariums in the country. The main GM-11 star field projector here can project almost all the constituents of the visible universe. It can also simulate the star-studded night sky over any location on the earth, on any day up to 12,500 years back or 12,500 years into the future. The planetarium will be closed on Mondays.
SPECIALITIES
The Museum has ten galleries exhibiting more than 300 items. Each gallery contains items related a particular disciple of science or engineering. There are galleries for electrical, electronics, mechanical, automobile and bio-medical engineering. The Museum operates two Mobile Science Exhibition Units on astronomy and science and a separate mobile astronomy unit named Astrovan. The Museum also conducts creative science workshops for school children during every summer.
