The Mahatma Gandhi Beach & Park is a very interesting place, which combines a beach and a well-maintained park, where tourists can sit and relax while enjoying the natural beauty surrounding the place. This place is situated at Kochupilamoodu, which is just 2 km away from the Kollam town and was inaugurated in 1961. The park area is suitable for long walks along the shoreline and to witness the beauty of Arabian Sea, which looks most appealing during dusk. Mahatma Gandhi Beach & Park is a fascinating place, which attracts many local and International tourists. The sea here is safe for swimming and bathing, and the tourists feel extremely rejuvenated in the divine surroundings of this park
HISTORY
Kollam Beach also known by the name Mahatma Gandhi beach was inaugurated on 1st of January by the then Vice President of India, Zakir Hussain. One of the most popular beach in Kerala, Kollam was once a favourite among Portuguese and they expand their settlement here in Kollam. Kollam Port is an important port for international cashew trade as well as it is considered to be Malabar’s oldest port. So as you walk along the beach, you will feel the essence of Portuguese as well as enjoy the serene charm that is rustic and opulence.
SPECIALITIES
Kollam Port is one of the oldest and most important ports for the international cashew trade on the Malabar Coast of the Arabian Sea. As of 2010, Kollam Port was the second largest port in Kerala after Cochin Port.Kollam was once a favourite settlement of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English in succession before Independence.The port is protected by the Tangasseri Breakwater, extending about 1.1 miles (1.8 km) south-south east of Tangasseri Point. The exotic location and backwaters makes Kollam Beach one of Kerala's most popular tourist attractions.

The city's climatic condition makes Kollam a best city in India to live. The maximum average temperature of the city in the summer season is 31 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature recorded is 23 degrees Celsius. Under the Köppen climate classification, the city features a Tropical monsoon climate.

January,February,September,October,November,December are considered the best time to visit Asramam Adventure Park.
